In my last post, I wrote of the malnutrition and hunger crisis in Haiti. It's a major problem that is claiming thousands of lives. A different kingdom is at work. Is it really possible to feed a nation that is literally starving to death? Turns out, God's people are on the move.

Enter Meds and Food for Kids and FISH ministries.





Meds & Food for Kids (MFK) is leading the charge to cure child malnutrition in Haiti. MFK's goal is “Alive at Five”: to ensure that children remain well-nourished and healthy through the toddler years, giving them a chance for normal growth and development into adulthood. It's an attempt to raise up a new generation of well-nourished and healthy Haitians.

MFK's primary weapon in this battle is "Medika Mamba," the medicinal peanut butter product that Mandy and I's team have been distributing. In Montrouis, Haiti, our team has effectively launched a malnutrition clinic and we are now treating over 20 kids. Over $35,000 has been raised to fund this effort. This is enough funding to ensure that the program can continue after we leave this summer. Now, we are praying that God would bring 5-6 other people to carry on the work. Any takers?




FISH MINISTRIES

Fish Ministries helps feed impoverished children so that Christian missions can become more effective. "Hungry stomachs don't have ears." By meeting children's desperate physical needs, they can become healthy, with the capacity to learn and grow in Christ. They are currently focusing on agriculture and aquaculture projects in Haiti. The work is absolutely unbelievable. I've never seen anything so effective and efficiently.


Fish Ministries is run by Ed Redden. We had a chance to meet Ed and few weeks ago. Ed is loves Jesus and happens to be a world-class expert in agriculture. That is a great combination for starving people.




He is an agricultural genius and an employee with the University of Florida. At Ed's facility, pigs, goats, turkeys and fish are raised --- thus feeding Haitian children. They are currently feeding almost 1500 kids a day. The food they provide from these animals give great protein to the kids - a critically nutritional element for the kids' physical and mental development. The point behind this series of posts is to show that God's kingdom is being extended and established in Haiti. Haiti is a dark place, but the light is breaking in. It is amazing to watch. All of the people involved in these posts followed a pretty simple train of thought. I think this logic is key to everything. It is goes something like this:

I have met and love Jesus. I desire to see His Kingdom reign over all. His Kingdom is currently not fully reigning over Haiti. I'm pretty sure that children shouldn't starve, that people shouldn't have to drink sewage. I'm going to find a way to do something about it.
