I've come to see that a meal is a luxury. Malnutrition is the underlying cause of death for many children in Haiti. Furthermore, poor nutrition at critical stages robs children of crucial developmental needs. Hunger and malnutrition issues are killing Haiti - literally. A different kingdom is at work. Here are some facts:
13% of Haiti's children are malnourished
Malnutrition kills approximately 5 million children every year. That adds up to a child every 6 seconds.
The lack of adequate food accounts for tons of disease and death
Recently, in Haiti, food prices have sky-rocketed, causing many to go hungry and become desperate. A few months ago, riots broke out in Haiti's capital.
More to come.
